Spanish for Criminal Justice Professionals

40 hrs course 

The Spanish for Criminal Justice Professionals course is an introductory course that will enhance the student’s ability to relate and recall phrases and responses. At the end of this course, students will be able to establish a mutual line of communication, a safe environment and identify the need for the assistance of a Spanish translator while in the performance of duties. This course will provide nonSpanish speaking criminal justice professionals with the basic Spanish language skills needed to communicate. 


Students must pass an end-of-course examination with a minimum score of 80%.

Course Topics Include Hispanic Culture  Basic Interviewing Vocabulary  Practical Exercises Giving Directions Cognates, Pronouns, Articles, and Gender.

First Aid Instructor Course 

40 hr course - CMS 1114

The CMS First Aid Instructor Course was organized and developed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an individual to prepare prospective officers better to provide efficient and effective basic first aid training. This course is based on the premise that the primary objective of the criminal justice basic recruit First Aid Instructor is to alert students to their responsibilities for safe and efficient response to an emergency medical situation.

This course is part of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission approved the Specialized Training Program.

It is designed to accommodate a maximum of 20 instructor students per class.
